450 students watch classes under a tree
Parents, representatives and members of the UBCH demand answers to the stoppage of repair and recovery work on the physical plant of the Dr. José Ángel Ruiz School in San Félix (Bolívar), since the measure keeps 450 students receiving classes virtually and partially in person, under a tree on the street.
Felipe Yépez, coordinator of the UBCH of the sector, explained that on September 9, by official instructions, they were He ordered a brigade of 15 people to be formed to proceed to remove the asphalt layer from the roofs that was damagedsuspend the damaged electrical part and scrape the walls in poor condition, work that was carried out according to the schedule stipulated.
However, he stated that on October 26 they were informed that these works were being paralyzed without any explanation.
“It has to be understood that the deterioration is going to be greater and it is our concern. How is a project going to be stopped after starting the work, yes that is going to lead to more deterioration within the school,” Yépez lamented.
For this reason, they request that an investigation be opened to activate an inspection. to verify why they stopped.
“Before ordering a repair, there was an organization, a planning, a cost structure was established and we don’t know that. Nobody explains anything to us and they keep us in uncertaintybecause we want the repairs to be reactivated and control to be carried out,” he explained.
Yépez added that they are aware that some repairs have been made in other schools, which unfortunately have not turned out well, which is why they are requesting reactivation and comptrollership if applicable, as established by the Venezuelan Magna Carta.
“We belong to a political structure. In this case, I am part of the organization and we want our school to be in optimal conditions so that students can receive classes in appropriate conditions.”
He reiterated that to reach a successful conclusion there must be a “good political response and an appropriate social response, they must work more in community.” That is why they are calling on Minister Héctor Rodríguez to authorize an investigation from his office. about what is happening at the Dr. José Ángel Ruiz School.
This situation affects more than 450 children in the first and second stages of school in the El Roble sector within San Félix (Bolívar), since they have seen the need to receive classes online, because the campus does not have conditions in its classrooms.
Consequently, once a week the children go to the educational center and under a tree they wait for the teachers to check their homework.
At this time, the physical plant does not have a roof in good condition because the asphalt layer was removed, 70% of the structure is without electrical service and the bathrooms They are very deteriorated.
Waiting to be heard
A father of two children who study at the Bolívar school reiterated the call for Nicolás Maduro to take action on the matter, since education is the door to the future. “We cannot have these children seeing classes in the conditions they currently are in,” he claimed.
Another representative who asked that his identity be protected, reported that it is very unsafe for both the students and the representatives and teachers work in those conditions.
