A 61-year-old pensioner recovering from eye surgery and living on John Shaw Avenue, Arima, was found dead at her home yesterday.
Hyacinth Danclair’s body was discovered in her bedroom by a police officer who is a family friend. She was found on the floor with a pillow over her face, and it is believed she may have been sexually assaulted.
The officer was called for assistance after relatives couldn’t reach Danclair yesterday afternoon. Danclair had undergone eye surgery at Couva Hospital on Sunday and had just returned home.
A female relative had tried calling Danclair’s cell phone several times and grew concerned when there was no response. When relatives went to her home, they found the front gate padlocked from the inside.
Officers who responded to the call had to break the lock to get inside. They then entered the house through an unlocked door on the northern side of the property.
