Government Buildings Damaged In 6.9 Magnitude Earthquake
The Minister of National Security and Communications, Stuart Young, has confirmed that at this time there have been no reports of fatalities linked to Tuesday’s earthquake, which has since been revised from Magnitude 6.8 to 6.9.
The Minister was giving an update while speaking on Good Morning Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday morning.
He said assessments to ascertain property damage across the country are ongoing.
Several Government agencies did not open on Wednesday morning as checks on their premises are being undertaken.
Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, also confirmed that his Ministry’s team had been out in the field doing assessments since Tuesday evening in the aftermath of the earthquake.
The Minister confirmed that some Government buildings were damaged during the earthquake, but it was still to be determined to what extent.
