They sentenced 34 Venezuelan members of a cell of the Aragua Train in Chile
A total of 34 members of the criminal gang Los Gallegos, a cell of the Tren de Aragua that operates in the northern part of Chilewere sentenced this week after a historic trial carried out in the Oral Criminal Court of Arica.
In the trial, the largest against organized crime in Chile, 22 facts included in the accusation were reviewed, among which stand out: illicit association, human trafficking, drug trafficking, arms trafficking, illegal carrying of prohibited weapons and possession , two frustrated homicides of carabineros (police officers), traffic crime of art. 4 at Gendarmerie headquarters, two crimes of qualified and simple homicide and crimes of threats to gendarmes and PDI.
Chilean justice frees four defendants in trial against the Aragua Train
The Prosecutor’s Office requested 11 life sentences for 11 defendants and other sentences totaling 200 years for the others.according to the media BiBio Chile.
The session ended with 34 convicted and 4 acquitted of the 38 who were accused in the trial. Among the accused, 29 are men and 9 are women. They are all of Venezuelan nationality.
The magnitude of the case against the Aragua Train cell was such that in the six months bomb threats were received in the court, for which the Prosecutor’s Office took extreme security measures due to threats.
