Venezuelan NGOs warn about the differentiated violence suffered by women
Non-governmental organizations in Venezuela warned this Monday, regarding the International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women, about the attacks or humiliations suffered by this sector of the population in a differentiated manner in the country.
Through opposition and not recognized by many countries.
“Turning women into political prisoners and subjecting them to torture is violating their dignity and extending the damage to their children, fathers, husbands and the rest of their families,” the organization noted.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women we remember all the women in Venezuela who have been imprisoned for political reasons.

Likewise, the NGO Cepaz said that there are Venezuelan women who suffer “institutionalized violence exercised by the State itself,” which it blamed for the arrests of mothers and adolescents in the context of the post-election crisis.
“Violence against women has multiple forms, and all of them are accentuated in contexts of repression, control and political persecution such as the one Venezuela is going through, where women not only suffer the personal impact but also the family burden,” said Cepaz. .
Protection of women
The Fundaredes organization considers it crucial to “promote the protection of women in any area of society”, such as at the borders, where “serious incidents have been recorded in which violence and discrimination surround this gender.”
The NGOwho believes that there is a failure to comply with the laws that protect women, stressed the need to strengthen commitments in this matter, as well as “demand responsibility and specific actions from those who have the power of decision.”
The Espacio Público organization sees “unacceptable that any woman must endure violence in exchange for participating in the digital world and expressing her voice,” as it denounced that there are gender attacks on platforms such as social networks.
This form of violence, he explained, “includes specific restrictions on freedom of expression, opinion, access to information, as well as the effects of retaliation, at a social and personal level.”
Political parties, government representatives and opposition leaders also published messages on social networks to commemorate this date, in a country where – according to the NGO Utopix – 142 women have been murdered this year at the hands of people who belonged to their close circles.
