The largest opposition coalition in the country, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), condemned this Monday the arrest of Alfredo Díaz, former governor of the island state Nueva Esparta and leader of the Democratic Action party deprived of liberty on Sunday.

With the arrest of Díaz, the Human Rights Committee of the Vente Venezuela party counts 160 imprisoned leaders and activists, whom it considers political prisoners, the vast majority collaborators of the PUD.
