PDVSA announces restoration of gas service after explosion at Monagas plant
Héctor Obregón, president of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), announced this Tuesday, November 26, the restoration of gas service after recovery of areas affected by the explosion registered two weeks ago at the Muscar Industrial Complexfrom the Punta de Mata division of the Monagas state.
In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Obregón pointed out that they worked intensely for 15 days to recover the gas service, which is necessary to supply the thermoelectric plants that guarantee electrical service in several states of the country.
«After a 15-day job The successive restoration of some normal conditions for the electricity system has been achieved and the necessary gas from thermoelectric plants has been guaranteed.as well as for other industrial uses. Our workers have made an effort to return to adequate conditions,” said Obregón.
The explosion originated in a diesel production unit and caused a large-scale explosion, with direct damage to the petrochemical industry, the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG) and PDVSA, in addition to five injuries and the cutting of the gas supply to the surrounding towns.
PDVSA blames the Venezuelan opposition for the explosion in Monagas
The president of PDVSA reiterated that The explosion in the Monagas complex was allegedly the product of an attack orchestrated by the Venezuelan opposition.
«The Muscar industrial complex where it was the victim of an extremist attack that affected one of the multiples where we receive gas flows from the north of Monagas. The event produced a decrease in the supply of gas for the industrial park, the domestic park, the electricity park and the automotive park,” he indicated.
Eleven people were arrested in Venezuela for their alleged responsibility in the explosionaccording to statements issued last week by the Minister of Petroleum, Delcy Rodríguez.
The executive vice president also said that the explosion was due to an alleged terrorist attack, with which she linked the leader María Corina Machado, other opposition leaders and the former member of the US Navy SEAL Erik Prince.
