Douglas Rico links mass poisonings in the country with assassination plans

Douglas Rico, director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), associated mass poisoning that have been registered in different states of the country with “assassination plans” that, according to the government of Nicolás Maduro, seek to destabilize the country before January 10, 2025.

«This country is under a constant siege by internal and external enemies, with their assassination plans and who are currently seeking the mass death of young people in schools. We have seen what is happening and we cannot ignore this situation,” he said at an award ceremony for the 23rd anniversary of the Cicpc.

Rico assured that mass poisonings are associated with viral challenges on TikTok and other social networks. “The evil ones are going to schools to induce young people to commit any act only with the intention of harming the State,” he added.

Authorities warn about risks of viral challenges on social networks

Authorities from both Venezuela and other nations have warned about the chroming, a viral challenge that involves inhaling toxic fumes from metallic paints, solvents, glue, nail polish remover, deodorants, gasoline, insecticides and aerosol chemicals. The goal is to “experience” a feeling of euphoria.

Inhaling high amounts of these chemicals can create a brief euphoric effect, as well as dizziness, vomiting, heart failure and brain damage, and in the long term they can cause memory loss, lower IQ, depression, anxiety or difficulty concentrating.

Cicpc officials are investigating massive poisonings that have been recorded in the country since the beginning of November, a situation that has generated deep concern among parents, educators and authorities.
