Vente Venezuela demands an end to the siege of asylum seekers at the Argentine Embassy

The Human Rights Committee of the Vente Venezuela (VV) party, led by María Corina Machado, demanded this Wednesday the end of the police “siege” – which began on Saturday – on the six anti-Chavistas sheltered in the residence of the Argentine Embassy in Caracas -guarded by Brazil- and compliance with international conventions.

“We demand the cessation of the siege and respect for the international conventions established to protect the diplomatic status of the asylum seekers there,” the committee stated through X.

On the same social network, Pedro Urruchurtu, one of the refugees and collaborator of Machado, assured that “the regime prohibits the entry of a tanker truck” to supply drinking water, while reporting “more than 40 hours” without service. electrical, after the theft of electricity fuses reported by the ConVzla team, of the majority opposition.

Since August, the embassy remains under the protection of Brazil – after the expulsion of the diplomats from the southern country -, even though the Maduro government revoked this authorization in September due to the alleged planning of terrorist acts at the headquarters by the asylum seekers. .

In addition to Urruchurtu, Omar González, Magalli Meda, Claudia Macero, Humberto Villalobos – all collaborators of VV – and former minister Fernando Martínez Mottola, advisor to the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), the largest opposition bloc, are also asylum seekers.

The six opponents entered the diplomatic headquarters after the Prosecutor’s Office accused them of crimes such as conspiracy and treason.

This Monday, the PUD candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, who has been in exile in Spain since September denouncing persecution by the Venezuelan authorities, said in an interview with EFE that he views this situation with “great concern.”
