Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga sees hope for Venezuela with Trump
Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga, former president of Bolivia, assures that the return of Donald Trump to the White House “opens a door of hope” for Venezuela, with the senator Marco Rubio appointed Secretary of State for the next United States administration.
He described outgoing President Joe Biden’s management of Venezuela as a shame, due to the release of Alex Saab and the “narcosnephews” Efraín Antonio Campo Flores and Franqui Francisco Flores de Freitas; and the flexibility of licenses to operate under the administration of Nicolás Maduro.
“They didn’t get anything. “Those in the Biden government have been disgustingly scammed for ineptitude taken to the extreme,” said the Bolivian politician in an interview with NTN24.
He assured that Marco Rubio is a person “of principle with a clear position on Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.”
“I understand perfectly what is underway and that is why I have always been in solidarity with the struggle of Venezuela, with Rosa María Payá in Cuba, with Félix Madariaga in Nicaragua, because I understand that we are facing the same threat,” he expressed.
The former president highlighted that the opposition leader Edmundo González, with the support of María Corina Machado, managed to demonstrate that he has more votes than Maduro even though he was in dictatorship. But international recognition is lacking. He said that on January 10, the popular will must be respected and Maduro’s coup avoided.
“We have to stop using euphemisms. People kept asking for minutes, but María Corina Machado has shown the minutes. They are not Machado’s minutes, they are the minutes of Maduro’s electoral system, which María Corina has obtained and has shown to the world,” he noted.

The proposal to remove Maduro
“Tuto” Quiroga proposed to pressure Maduro’s departure with sanctions, international arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court, carry out asset seizures, review the licenses granted to operate in Venezuela and, at the same time, protect the country’s assets abroad. .
He also proposed that the United States increase the reward for Maduro’s capture, for example from $15 million to $51.2 million, in reference to the percentage with which Maduro claims to have won the presidential elections.
For Quiroga, Maduro only has to negotiate “if he wants a hot hammock in Cuba or a cold cell in The Hague.”
He also criticized that those who support Maduro are not China, Russia or Iran, but companies such as Repsol from Spain or Chevron from the United States. “Gentlemen, I want to see what you are going to do with the licenses.”
Criticisms of Lula and Petro
Quiroga considers it feasible that Edmundo be recognized as president “if the international community is clear.” He spoke in reference to countries such as Spain, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, whom he accused of “giving a lifeline” to Maduro through their passivity, omissions and actions. Although he added that now with the current government of Javier Milei the panorama has changed and he hopes the same with the United States.
He mentioned Gustavo Petro and Lula da Silva, who “have been defending Maduro.” He criticized that both presidents cast doubt on Edmundo’s victory by 37 points.
“I heard Petro say that the mistake was making elections. God save me, how is a Democrat going to say that it is a mistake to hold elections at the end of a presidential term. The crime is not recognizing the result of those elections on the part of Maduro.”
He urged Petro not only to seek to save Monómeros, but to extend his hand to Venezuela.
“We saw the minutes, Edmundo is the elected president and that is what should happen in January,” he added.
