El Socorro man gunned
Police are probing the murder of an El Socorro man in Morvant on Saturday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Jameel James, 35, a labourer from Chandy Lane, El Socorro Road, San Juan.
Officers from the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) were on mobile patrol around 6.29 pm when they received a report of a shooting at Westmore Road, Second Caledonia, Morvant.
As they arrived, they found the victim’s dark grey Hyundai Tucson idling on the roadway with both passenger doors opened.
No one was inside the car which bore bullet holes in the driver and front passenger windows.
As officers checked the surrounding area, they found James, who was bare-backed, dead in some bushes. He was shot multiple times in the head.
Six spent 9 mm shell casings and two live 9 mm rounds of ammunition, along with a pair of Adidas slippers were recovered at the scene.
