Wallerfield teen charged in shooting death of 16-year-old Aliyah Santoo
Hakim Ramsammy, 18, from Demerara Road, Wallerfield, appeared in court on Friday facing charges of manslaughter, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition in connection with the death of 16-year-old Aliyah Santoo.
Santoo was shot on Tuesday night.
The suspect initially claimed Santoo, a Form Three student of the Guaico Secondary School, was shot after she opened the front door and a gunman stormed the house, opening fire on them.
This account, however, was later disputed by a person who was present at the house.
After further investigation and interviews, Ramsammy was arrested by CPL Ali on Wednesday. He was charged the next day.
Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswa i of the High Court North A presided over the case. Ramsammy was remanded in custody, and his next court date is set for September 15, 2025.
