POLICE have charged a Fyzabad labourer with kidnapping and two counts of robbery with violence.
The 33-year-old man, from Roots Avenue, Delhi Road, was expected to appear at the Siparia Masters Court on August 20 to answer to the charges.
He is accused of being one of two men who robbed and kidnapped a Cunupia man around midnight on August 13.
Police said the Cunupia man, 21, was waiting to pick up his female friend around 10.45 pm at her Dubarry Street, Fyzabad home when the labourer and an accomplice approached him around 11 pm and announced a hold-up.
They allegedly forced the man into the back seat of his Mitsubishi CK2 Lancer before driving off. The victim told police he was made to strip naked and lie on a lonely road while the men searched him and his car.
Afterwards the men made him get back into the car and took him to his Cunupia home, where they robbed him of jewellery and his cellphone.
He told police the men made him get back into his car and stopped along the M2 Ring Road, Debe, let him out and told him, “Run for your life.”
The victim ran into some nearby bushes, where he hid until the men left in his car. He then sought help from nearby villagers, who contacted the police.
