Three teens among five Venezuelans held with guns, ammo
Five Venezuelan men, including three teenagers, were arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Central Division between 2 pm and 6 pm on Monday.
Officers from the Central CID Operations and the Central Division Task Force Area North went to the Caroni Arena Road near Ross Trail where they searched an abandoned wooden structure often used by illegal immigrants.
The five were held after officers found two firearms and an assortment of ammunition – namely one brown and black shotgun along with 11 rounds of 16-gauge ammunition and one .22 rifle fitted with a magazine containing 11 rounds of .22 ammunition.
The five, whose ages ranged between 18 and 23, were arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station.
