Drunk driver arrested after injuring 6-year-old
A drunk driver has been arrested after injuring a young child at a popular beach yesterday. Around 5:45 p.m., a witness at the Clifton Hill Beach Facility saw a silver-grey Nissan Latio being driven erratically. The vehicle crossed the shoreline and struck a 6-year-old boy.
The driver, a 31-year-old man from Mendez Village, Siparia, was arrested and taken to the Point Fortin Police Station, where he took a breathalyser test. After failing the test, he faced charges of driving under the influence, driving without a licence, and lacking a valid certificate of insurance.Â
The 6-year-old boy is currently in hospital in stable condition.
