Headless body found in Gasparillo
Homicide officers made the grisly discovery of a headless body wrapped in plastic and dressed in a blue coverall in Gasparillo on Thursday. This came after a resident, Ryan Vialva, heard dogs barking and found a human skull in some bushes.
Around 6.30 pm, Vialva was alerted by the dogs and when he checked, he saw the skull. He quickly went to the Gasparillo Police Station, where he made a report.
PC Roberts and other officers visited the scene at Holder Street, Caratal Village, and found a black plastic-wrapped object a short distance away.
On closer inspection, they realized it was a decomposing corpse wrapped in a blue blanket and partially clad in the coverall. Lengths of dreadlocks were found nearby.
The remains were found down a precipice roughly 30 feet off the roadway.
District Medical Officer Dr Stephanie Dansingh visited the scene and ordered the remains to be taken to Dass Funeral Home. An autopsy will be done at the Forensic Sciences Complex once the remains are identified.
ASP Ramsaran, Ag Cpl Huggins and his team from the San Fernando Enquiries Team, as well as Sgt Elvin and his team from Homicide Region 3, are continuing investigations.
Anyone with information on the body can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS or the Gasparillo Police Station.
