HRW denounces disappearance of a Hispanic-Venezuelan woman in Maiquetía
Pappier used his official account on the social network X to express his concern. He also demanded that the government of Nicolás Maduro clarify Sahagún’s whereabouts.
Venezuela: We demand that the regime disclose the whereabouts of Sofía María Sahagún Ortíz, a Spanish-Venezuelan citizen, who has been missing since October 23.
The last time she was heard from she was at the Maiquetía airport.

Sofía’s disappearance has generated concern in both Venezuela and Spain, where family and friends are waiting for answers about her well-being. HRW has urged the international community to remain alert and pressure the Venezuelan government to guarantee the safety of all citizens.
This call was joined by the NGO Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón, who also used their social networks to request information about the conditions in which he is found.
«We express our concern about the reports of missing people, such as the case of Sofía María Sahagún Ortíz, a Spanish-Venezuelan citizen, whose whereabouts have been unknown since October 23. The last time there was news of her, she was at the Maiquetía airport, and since then her location has been uncertain. We urge the authorities to provide clear and up-to-date information about Sofia’s case, location and conditions. We stand in solidarity with Sofía’s family and with all those who have suffered the anguish of the disappearance of a loved one,” he highlighted.
