“They are trying, from the colonialist and imperialist complex, to prepare the ground to ignore the institutions and decisions of the Venezuelan people,” added the Chavista Executive in his response to what he called an “absurd statement” on the part of the seven most industrialized democracies. of the world.
The foreign ministers of this group demanded this Tuesday the release of all political prisoners “unjustly detained” in Venezuela after the elections, and announced that they will continue to “support the efforts of regional partners” for a democratic transition in the South American country, governed by Chavismo since 1999.
“On July 28, the Venezuelan people expressed themselves clearly at the polls, voting for democratic change and supporting Edmundo González Urrutia with a significant majority,” reads the final declaration of a G7 summit held in Italy.
The members of the G7 assured that they feel “deeply disturbed” by the “continuous violations and abuses of human rights suffered by the political opposition, civil society and the independent media”, after the presidential elections, whose official result is considered fraudulent. by the opposition that supported González Urrutia.
