Man robbed of $2,700 by gyrating bandit
A Morvant woman who robbed an elderly man of $2,700 in cash on Thursday at a fast foot outlet in Port-of-Spain has been arrested.
The 61-year-old victim of Picton Road, Laventille, reportedly withdrew the money from RBC, Independence Square, around 2 pm on August 15. After placing the money in his right back pocket, he headed to Church’s Chicken on Henry Street to meet a friend.
When leaving the fast food outlet, the man was approached by the suspect, who was not known to him. The female suspect is of African descent, five feet tall, slim built, dark in complexion, with curly shoulder-length hair and a scar on the left side of her face.
She allegedly began gyrating on the elderly man whilst rubbing her hands over his body and hugging him close. When the woman walked off and the man checked his pocket, he realised the money was missing. He made a report to the police.
Officers from the Guard & Emergency Branch (GEB) later held the woman while she was walking along the street. –Anna-Lisa Paul
