Opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia He reiterated that he will not lead a government from exile and assured that he will return to Venezuela to take office as future president on January 10. In an interview with El País de España, he stated that he will form a government with María Corina Machado as executive vice president.

“No,” González Urrutia responded bluntly when asked if he plans to be inaugurated in his current exile, and added: “That is clear: I am going to be in Venezuela” on that date.

He indicated that his departure from the country was temporary and that from the first day he was clear that he would return at any time.ment. «My objective is to take possession of the position for which I was elected and, from then on, make the decisions that have to be made; among others, the appointment of the government team«.

Given this, he highlighted that the opposition leader María Corina Machado will be the executive vice president of the republic.

González, a diplomat away from the political front line until this year, took the reins of a campaign led before and now by Machado for administrative purposes.

The opposition claims the victory of González Urrutia in the presidential elections on July 28, ensuring that they had 80% of the copies of the minutes that demonstrated his victory. However, after an arrest warrant was issued against him, he ended up going into exile in Spain in September.

Machado, the head of the Vente Venezuela party, remains in the country with an unknown whereabouts as legal and police pressure on her grows.
