No Truth To Reports On Minister Hinds’ Dismissal

Communications Minister Symon De Nobriga says Thursday’s rumour of the dismissal of the National Security Minister illustrates the need for citizens to ensure they get verified information, especially from the Office of the Prime Minister or Communications.

On Thursday, a post from a local media house which alleged that Minister Hinds was removed from the position went viral. However, it was quickly pulled from the website.

Minister De Nobriga said he was unsure where the media house received the information, but confirmed that no such decision was taken.

Following the rumours, Minister Hinds posted to his Facebook page that Cabinet had a solid engagement on Thursday treating with the serious business of the nation’s affairs. He confirmed with photos at around 3pm that he was working at his Head Office following the Cabinet meeting, adding that he has no time to lose, especially with the happy ‘rumour-mongering’ that others enjoy.

The local media house has since issued an apology for the article which was posted, adding that they are investigating the origin of the post, which was not authorised.
