Perkins Rocha spends 90 days detained and isolated from his family

Perkins Rochalegal advisor of the main opposition coalition in Venezuela – the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) -, is serving 90 days this Monday “arbitrarily” detained and isolated from the family, denounced his wife, María Costanza Cipriani.

«90 days have passed since he was brutally arbitrarily detained by the forces of the regime, 90 days without his family being able to see and hear him«, he expressed in a video published on the social network X.

In addition, she assured that, during that period, her husband “has been denied the right to appoint a private defense”, reasons for which – she expressed – there have been “90 days of uncertainty and profound injustice.”

«We continue to demand his freedom and that the will of the Venezuelan people be fulfilled. Perkins is not a criminal, Perkins is a man who only fights for his ideals. We demand full freedom not only for Perkins Rocha, but for all political prisoners and persecuted people. “We are not collapsing, we have each other,” Cipriani added.

The legal advisor of the PUD is one of the 160 leaders and activists detained before and after the presidential elections of July 28, according to the Human Rights Committee of the Vente Venezuela (VV) party, whom it describes as “political prisoners.” », the vast majority collaborators of the opposition coalition.

Last August, Cipriani noted that her husband – a close ally of opposition leader María Corina Machado – was accused of five crimes, including “terrorism”, as well as “treason, conspiracy, criminal association and instigation of hatred.” .

He then reported that Rocha was “presented at a hearing with the assistance of a public defender” and that they denied him “his right to private defense.”
