Political prisoners: young Ariadna Pinto was released

On Saturday, Ariadna Pinto, a 20-year-old girl detained and accused of alleged terrorism in the context of the post-election protests in Tinaquillo, Cojedes state, was released from prison, the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners reported in social networks.

“She is released this December 7 thanks to the pressure of her mother who never stopped demanding her freedom and all the people who condemned this injustice. There are still 17 other political prisoners, detained in the state of Cojedes, who are waiting for their freedom to spend this Christmas with their loved ones,” the Committee indicated.

Ariadna Pinto was arrested on August 1 after a member of the Bolívar Chávez Electoral Battle Unit (UBCH) denounced her for “terrorism” and “incitement to hatred,” without any basis.

The details of the release were not revealed by the family. But it was learned that he received a humanitarian measure from the attorney general of the Nicolás Maduro administration, Tarek William Saab, who on Saturday He said they will continue to review the cases of political prisoners to grant measures, although only in those where “there is room.”

During the confinement, the chronic kidney failure that the young woman suffers worsened, in addition to type I diabetes and chronic high blood pressure. For which she was hospitalized at the Josefina de Rotondoro hospital, in Tinaquillo.

The accusation triggered an anxiety crisis in Pinto that seriously deteriorated his health, manifesting itself in generalized swelling and almost daily seizures, culminating in chronic kidney failure.

According to the NGO Penal Forumthere are currently 1,905 political prisoners in Venezuela, of which 42 are adolescents between 14 and 17 years of age.
