Popular Will demands freedom of Roland Carreño
The Popular Will party (VP) demanded this Monday the “immediate” release of leader Roland Carreñoarrested for the second time on August 2.
«The violation of his human rights not only lies in his arbitrary detention, but also in the prohibition of seeing his family and lawyers during these four months. This is the best reflection of the farce of ‘justice’ of the dictatorship,” VP said on the social network X.
And now that Christmas is approaching, The party also demanded the “immediate” release of the rest of those considered political prisoners andn the country. A total of 1,903, the vast majority detained after the presidential elections of July 28, according to the NGO Foro Penal.

«A peaceful Christmas is only possible without repression, without persecution and without political prisoners. Therefore, Roland Carreño must be free,” VP insisted.
The journalist was also arrested for the first time on October 26, 2020. He was accused of financing terrorism, conspiracy, and illicit trafficking in weapons of war. He was released from prison on October 18 of last year, after an agreement signed then between the government and the Democratic Unitary Platform.
Freedom for Carreño and all political prisoners
