The ConVzla team, from the majority opposition in Venezuela, reported this Tuesday the theft of fuses from the official residence of the Argentine Embassy in Caracaswhere six opponents have been sheltered since March, who assure that the siege continues around the property by security agents.

«Electrical fuses were stolen. The diplomatic headquarters remains without power. “This is a violation of international conventions,” he expressed in X ConVzla, which described the act as a “criminal attack.”

In that social network, Pedro Urruchurtu, one of the asylum seekers and close collaborator of the opposition leader María Corina Machado, indicated at 7:00 p.m. local time (23:00 GMT) that they were fulfilled “more than 24 hours without electrical service, since the fuses were removed«, which – he assured – they verified this Tuesday.

He noted that more than 72 hours have passed under a “siege by regime security forces” on the outskirts of the residence, protected by Brazil since August, after the expulsion of the Argentine diplomats.

Magalli Meda -also isolated- said in X that it is an “abuse” and of a “mockery” for the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaand its diplomatic corps in the country.

What are the six opponents who take refuge in the Argentine Embassy in Caracas accused of?

In addition to Urruchurtu and Meda, there is also Claudia Macero, VV Communications coordinator; Omar González, former deputy; Humberto Villalobos, electoral coordinator of the VV Campaign Command, and former minister Fernando Martínez Mottola, advisor to the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), the largest opposition bloc.

The six took refuge in March after the Prosecutor’s Office accused them of crimes such as conspiracy and treason.

On Saturday, the Argentine government condemned the “acts of harassment and intimidation against asylum seekers” at its embassy in Caracas.

The opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia said on Monday in an interview with Efe that sees the situation in the Argentine embassy with “great concern”, which in his opinion is “absolutely illogical, with electricity cuts, water supply cuts and surveillance that prevents them from accessing the supply.”
