Relatives of political prisoners denounce intimidation and threats

“Mothers and relatives report that they receive threats from officials so that they do not reveal the critical health status of their political prisoners,” the committee warned.

The threats, he warned, include the possibility of withdrawing visits, worsening inhumane prison conditions and allowing “the pathologies that many suffer from” to worsen.

He added that prisoners suffer constant intimidation with warnings that “they will never be released and will die in prison.”

Relatives of political prisoners demand freedom and solidarity at Christmas

The NGO Penal Forum It counts a total of 1,903 detainees for political reasons, including children, young people and adults, after the post-election protests.

In addition, it reports that at least 131 political prisoners were released on November 17. However, the Prosecutor’s Office assures that it granted freedom measures to 225 people, without detailing which prisons they were in.

Relatives of political detainees hold vigils and peaceful demonstrations to demand the release of their loved ones and call on the international community to show solidarity with their cause to celebrate Christmas without political prisoners.
