They arrested 5 Venezuelans in Mexico for trafficking and drug dealing

Five Venezuelans, four men and one woman, were detained in a police operation in conjunction with the Mexican National Guard for their alleged participation in the dangerous criminal organization the Aragua Train and for engaging in drug dealing and human trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Among the detained Venezuelans is Euclides Manuel Arias Suárez, alias Morgan or Kilin Morran, identified as the leader of a cell linked to the transnational criminal group and material author of the feminicide of two Venezuelan women that occurred on July 29 in Tlalpanreported El Universal de México.

The capture occurred after the uniformed officers raided a home, located in the Privada Ejido Cuautepec, in the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office, used to store, distribute and market drugs, in addition to entering migrant women for the purposes of sexual exploitation.

At the scene they seized 295 doses of marijuana, a short firearm with 16 cartridges and two cell phones. According to the investigation, the group operated in different parts of Mexico and other countries.

The detainees were presented before the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will define their legal situation.

Aragua Train

The Aragua Train was born in the Tocorón prison, in Aragua, led by Héctor Rustherford Guerrero Flores, alias “Niño Guerrero”.

Since its immense expansion in 2013, the Aragua Train He came to take territories of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile, and in Venezuela its presence was recorded in the states of Aragua, Lara, Yaracuy, Bolívar, Sucre, Miranda, Táchira, Guárico, Carabobo, Trujillo, Apure and Zulia.

In the United States, authorities registered the presence of members of the Aragua Train in the states of New York, Florida, Chicago, and Texas, and their criminal activities extend to other states such as Virginia, Louisiana, and New Jersey.

«As the cells consolidated, they permeated local criminal economies, using selective and striking violence to expel local groups and constitute themselves as a serious threat. In addition to extortion and migrant smuggling, the Tren de Aragua factions abroad control a system of illegal loans (also known as gota a gota), micro-trafficking, kidnapping, small-scale international drug trafficking, trafficking of people and robberies. Each cell specializes in different activities, depending on local conditions,” explained InSight Crime.

It is still unclear where the new core of the group will be after the invasion of Tocorón in September 2023. However, There is no indication that the gang has stopped operating in Venezuela.
