Three arrested, firearm, ammo and narcotics seized
Three men have been arrested, and a firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of narcotics were seized during anti-crime operations conducted over the past 72 hours in various policing divisions.
The Police Service says an anti-crime exercise was carried out between 7:00 pm and 11:50 pm by officers from the Southern Division Task Force. During the exercise, the officers searched a bushy area in Bayshore, West Marabella, where they discovered a black plastic bag containing a black and silver Walther firearm, which was seized for further processing.
Also during the exercise, a 24-year-old man from Railway Road, Princes Town, was arrested on enquiries related to housebreaking and larceny.
Meanwhile… Members of the Western Division Task Force conducted an intelligence-led operation between 10:30 pm yesterday (October 9, 2024), and 2:00 am today (October 10, 2024).
According to the TTPS, upon arriving at Cocorite Terrace, the officers noticed a man known to them who ran into a nearby house when he saw them.
The officers gave chase and successfully apprehended the man, who was then searched. During the search, they found three rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition.
The 32-year-old man from Waterhole, Cocorite, was arrested and the items were seized.
Also on Wednesday, in the Port of Spain district, officers from the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted a stop-and-search operation on the Brian Lara Promenade around 6:15 pm.
One man was found to be in possession of five grammes of cocaine.
The narcotics were seized, and the 39-year-old man from Southern Main Road, Curepe, was arrested and charged with the offence.
