Tobago man drowns during beach lime
A family beach lime turned tragic on Sunday when 69-year-old Bernard Morris drowned at Swallows Beach in Crown Point.
Morris, who lived in Mt St George, went to the beach with his brother and niece around 2.30 pm. They all went into the water together.
Minutes later, however, Bernard’s brother and niece left the water to meet the driver, leaving Bernard near the shore.
When they returned five minutes later, they found Bernard face down in the water. He was unresponsive, and despite their attempts to get his attention, he did not respond.
Police arrived at the scene and Emergency Health Services were contacted.
CPR was performed before Bernard was taken to the Scarborough Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3.30 pm.
A police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
