TTCG And TTPS Launch Probe Into Incident At Sea Which Left Migrant Child Dead
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard are investigating an incident which left a nine month old baby dead.
This, from Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds. He was asked to confirm if an investigation was launched into the incident in Tuesday’s sitting of the Upper House.
On Saturday, the TTCG said while conducting patrols along the South Coast of Trinidad, the TTS Scarborough detected a vessel crossing the border between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
The TTS Scarborough’s ship boat was launched to aid in the interception and the Coast Guard used all available methods to stop the vessel including the ship’s horn, searchlight, and flares.
The TTCG said warning shots were also fired ahead of the vessel and the vessel’s pilot attempted to ram the Coast Guard boat.
