  • Nov, Thu, 2024

The student movement Save the U, an option that will participate in the choice of students from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) on November 15, presented the volunteering and digital platform “UCV Tierra de Todos”. With this initiative they hope to rebuild the country’s main university and create projects to benefit the university community.

The presentation of this initiative was led by the candidate for the presidency of the Federation of University Centers (FCU) of the UCV, Miguelangel Suárez, who explained that they hope to add all the students who identify with the proposals of their student organization.

“Today we want to present to the university and the country this tool that will allow independent students from political teams who feel represented with our electoral option to participate in all activities and create university culture. Not only to political life within the UCV, but also to sports and all the outreach activities carried out by university students,” Suarez explained.

For her part, the candidate for the vice presidency of the FCU, Rosa Cucunuba, assured that this platform, in addition to being a network that will reflect the ideas and initiatives of the students, will also show the profile of all the candidates of the movement that represents them.

“On this platform they will also have information about all of us for those people who do not yet know the candidates. We are working towards an open and transparent government, which is why this platform will continue to function after November 15 so that they have access to all the projects that will be in our management,” said the candidate for the vice presidency of the FCU.

Finally, Mayrin Cedeño, coordinator of the UCV Tierra de Todos platform, indicated that the network is made up of volunteers from different areas such as academics, environmentalists and people dedicated to culture and art who decided to join to add ideas that go beyond university policy. “I do not represent any policy within the University, but I see myself identified with the project of saving the university,” she stated.

Finally, the members of Save the U reiterated their commitment to the students and assured that they will work for a UCV that once again becomes a transversal institution and an example for the world.
