Venezuelan university professors are the poorest in Latin America
The Observatory of Venezuelan Universities (OBU) denounced this Thursday the salary crisis they face university professors. He pointed out that the best salary that a public teacher can receive is 27 dollars a month, and that means they are “the poorest” in Latin America.

University professors eat less than 3 times a day
Due to the salary crisis, the OBU pointed out that «32% of university professors eat less than 3 times a day and 45% have had to sell or exchange goods to buy food,” according to data from the organization’s latest survey, published in 2023.
He added that 7 out of 10 teachers dedicate themselves to other activities, “that do not necessarily have to do with educational work, to obtain income and cover their most basic needs.”
