WASA hails improved water supply in southwest

  • Nov, Mon, 2024

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) says water distribution has improved at the extreme end of the southwestern network.

In a statement on Monday morning, WASA said for years, the communities of Icacos, Cedros, Granville, Palo Seco, Santa Flora and others, faced numerous challenges in accessing reliable and safe pipe-borne water. However, it hailed the successful implementation of the Southwest Water Improvement Programme.

“These very communities have joined the ranks of those receiving a consistent water supply, ensuring that families have access to this essential resource,” the statement said.

The drilling of three (3) Granville Wells, construction of Boosters in Bonasse Village and on the SouthCentral Main Road, Cedros, as well as the refurbishment of Techier Wells #13 and #21, were but some of the extensive works undertaken. Also, for the first time, the Granville Water Treatment Plant is operating at full capacity and the Cap De Ville Tank is utilizing its full capacity after 15 years.

WASA says the supply level has moved from once every nine days to residents now having reliable access to a pipe-borne water supply.
