What did Cifar say about its quality?
Tito López, president of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry (Cifar)recently clarified the doubts about the quality of medicines and supplies imported from India.
In statements for Enumerated Radio, López assured that Indian technology in the pharmaceutical sector is of high quality and companies that offer medical supplies must be duly registered to make these shipments.
“All plants in India have to be certified and evaluated by the companies that are going to import it or, failing that, buy raw materials for the manufacture of the final finished product,” he said.
Medicines from India undergo health controls in Venezuela
He also explained that once the medicines arrive in Venezuela from India or other countries, The country’s Health Comptroller must ensure compliance with the storage and distribution of these products.
López pointed out that one of the situations that usually occurs is that the medicine is not well stored during shipment and can be damaged.
“All medications that enter the country have to submit collection samples to the National Institute of Hygiene, which certifies their therapeutic efficacy; That’s why I talk about the registration number, the permit number,” he said.
He added that this procedure should not only happen with India, but also with all medicines brought from any country in the world.
Cifar foresees growth of between 6% and 8% in the sector by 2025
Cifar predicts growth of between 6% and 8% in the pharmaceutical sector by 2025 and estimates stabilization in the market.
“We project growth of between 6% and 8%. This year the market is going to stabilize much more and those brands that were traditional in the country will be added,” López indicated.
During a Cifar event, which brought together more than 20 brands, sector representatives reported that they hope to maintain the growth that has been experienced in 2024.
López specified that the average price of pharmaceutical products remains around $3.40 and it is estimated that by the end of 2024 a 38% recovery will be achieved compared to the previous year.
